Well, I got my account back on Facebook but they forced me to use my old name which is bloody unfair. I haven't gone by that name for years and it's a trigger. ='/ I don't identify with it and I haven't identified with it for years. There's reasons for it. I get a panic attack when I see that name anywhere.
I'll be on my new account (with the name I'm comfortable with) but of course I'll keep my old account as it's full of memories. When my legal name change goes ahead and I change that name then I'll go back to it. Man, such a kerfuffle.
Though I'm happy that my friends (and even family) understand. I've got them on both accounts. And thankful that FB gave me my old account back so I didn't lose everything. That's a positive at least. =]
No one should force you to go by a name that you don't feel comfortable with. It's your right to have your identity. You wonder why so many people are depressed and bitter? They get bullied and judged because of what they identify with - whether it's their name or gender or whatever it is that makes them them - and no one has the right to take that away from you. Fight for who you are and fuck those that get in your way, I say! ♡
