I totally forgot about restarting this. So...maybe this is a second restart?

Previously, in my diary, I spoke about husband being promoted, about my kid being super smart, about having a miscarriage, about being genuinely happy despite that.

And now....

So, the boy is finishing up the last days of 2nd grade right now (I know, it's late in the year for him to still be in school....but he doesn't go back until September!). He's so damn smart and witty. He's reading challenging books. I laughed the other day cause I had to fuss at him for staying up late reading with a flash light. He's so into science, too...I love it.

We did have to spend the big bucks and get him braces, though. He has always had this problem where his baby teeth refuse to come out, and his grown-up teeth come in behind it. One front tooth had this problem, but the tooth came in SO far set back. It was heartbreaking cause he wouldn't smile very much. His crap dentist kept reassuring us that it would fix itself and realign itself eventually. It didn't. So, I switched dentist and she sent us over to the orthodontist immediately.

The orthodontist put the braces on THAT day. He also gave us a huge discount because of my husband being in the military. That was a month ago, and that tooth has came up so far. Looks soooo good. I mean, we do end up at the orthodontist at least every other week for broken brackets and wires, but I guess that's to be normal for an 8 year old boy.

The husband was finally promoted in January! He immediately contacted the people he had to in order to get orders outta here! Within a week, they contacted him and asked for his top 3 wish list locations. We said Hawaii, Colorado, and Germany. Within a few hours, he was contacted and told that he could have Korea or Colorado. We were a little disappointed that we didn't get Hawaii, but that's only because a good friend here got Hawaii a few days after us. Different rank, though, which does have an impact.

So Fort Carson, Colorado...we'll be seeing y'all at the beginning of next year. I think his separation date for leaving recruiting duty is the first week of February, and then he has to be checked in to Colorado before or at least by the first week of March. We are SO excited.

As for me, things are still good. I celebrated my 33rd birthday in November. My husband took me to see the Rockettes in the city, which was really a bucket list kinda thing. I sold my first big piece of cross stitch, which was a nice thing to finally do.

I visited my family in Georgia this spring. Husband was actually in Georgia for a school and had been gone for about 5 weeks, when the boy's spring break was the last week of husband's school. So, I picked the kid up early on the friday before his spring break, and we headed down. I think we left at like 11:30 and then traffic in Washington DC and North Carolina slowed us down big time. The boy, the dog and I made it to Georgia at like 5AM. It was so nice visiting my mama though. Sissy and I took the kids to Medieval Times...my son loved that! The boy actually stayed with my mom for 2 days when I went down to see my husband at the school at Fort Benning. It was nice spending time alone with my husband. We went to the movies and shopped.

We also made a quick weekend trip to Washington DC two months ago. We had so much fun, and my son is OBSESSED with Abraham Lincoln so he was in heaven. We walked a gazillion miles in a weekend. It was a lot of stuff packed into one weekend, but totally worth it.

Well, that's all. Maybe I won't forget this place again! Hope y'all have a good day!
