Monday again

04/14/2014

I'm usually as okay as anyone can be with all the horrible tragedies in the world. I knew about the Kansas City anti-Semite who killed three people. But there was a city police cruiser in the parking lot with a dog parked at Morgan's preschool; it's part of our JCC organization (JCC North). It was raining, so there was a bit of necessity, but I hugged Morgan so tightly as we rang the doorbell and tighter when I left. And cried. I made it to the car first. I listened to Pharell's "Happy" twice on the radio. I'm not even that fond of the song! But I wasn't crying when I got to Subway. (Morgan slept past 8, so I didn't get breakfast.)

One more sad: One of my friend's cat, Churchill, died. He was old, but it was still really sad. I think that he was born old. I swear to God that cat looked like Winston Churchill. He was steel gray and had these hooded eyes and jowls. He was very smart, but sweet when he felt like it. He would greet you, then come by when he felt like it. Churchill was a good boy. She had to put him to sleep, which I think might be worse. When my old cat, Color, died, she died in the living room. I didn't have to take her to a vet to have her put down. We, and Morgan, went to Torrid for "retail therapy." And frozen yogurt therapy, since the store was next door. Morgan ate most of mine. lol We decided it was absolutely allowed to be "dinner."

HAPPY NOTE. One of the paint your own pottery places came to the temple yesterday afternoon. We had the option of frogs or plates to paint. The point was to make a seder plate or a frog plague. Okay, the frogs were cute, and the event was primarily for kids 3 - 8, so no one did a zombie frog. Which would have been awesome. Just sayin'. I of course painted a fairy holding matzah in the middle with a Nile crocodile and Sphinx on the outer edge. I would have done more, but we only had an hour. The fairy was in the style of the Amy Brown "Bubble Rider." I hope it comes out... Morgan's frog was pretty awesome, for her just dripping paint all over it. I'd tell her she needed more paint on his tummy, and she'd go for it. lol I added some random polka dots. Because I like polka dots, and the frog needed some more color. I'd upload a pic, but no one in the BD help department has gotten back to me on HOW exactly to upload a photo here.

Back to Tikvah Topics. (It's like laundry- a mobius band drawn by M.C. Escher.) I'm playing around with some layouts, but trying not to be too crazy. Big issue: There aren't any Jewish holidays in May! UGH. lol (I know, I know - "hashtag: 1st world problems!") My roll my eyes moment so far was when a committee chair sent me an email a few days ago saying she wasn't sure what the article would be this month from her group because no one had gotten back to her. I suggested: "I can run something from a previous meeting that might be interesting or web sites that people can go to for more information on endowments. That could be an alternative. "Her response?"If possible, if you can send me your list of endowment links, that would be good.  I want to make sure that we are not promoting another organization.  I have not heard back from my contact.  He may well be out of town for the holiday."O.o The only good web site I found was from Wikipedia... Sigh. Well, at least the office closes at 1 today, so I'll go home before getting Morgan. Maybe I can edit my novel some more. Oh, I didn't scream that here, did I? Only on Facebook.
....Ahem....

OH MY GOD - HOUSE GLASSES MAY ACTUALLY GET PUBLISHED THIS YEAR. I sent Mirror Publishing (in Madison, WI) my edits for their typesetters (where to put italics, spaces, etc) and got back a PDF of who it would look in print. (*SQUEE*) Now, I have to go through and make sure it's all still correct. Of course my picky ass has edits! It's about a young girl, Heather, who's been adopted by 20-something parents, and they are moving into a new house. She discovers a rabbit doll in her bedroom in an old chest. The house's senses are connected to this rabbit. When the rabbit feels that Heather is in danger of being "taken back," he brings her into the world of stuffed animals. Heather has to figure out how to save the stuffed animals there and learn what it's like to be a human in a world of "Created." It's Coraline -esque. In fact, it scared me when that book came out (and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo) that Neil Gaiman had already written my story. He didn't! I'll keep ya up-to-date.

I heard about the KC thing
Sorry to hear about your friend's cat, I love that kind, they're so adorable! Retail & fro-yo therapy sound like wonderful ideas! =))

Oh that sounds like an interesting story! And not too Coraline-ish, from your basic description, anyway. The idea of "living" toys is nothing new, and it sounds like your toy-world thing is not at all the same as his other-world, so no worries! Have you ever read Fables? The graphic novel/comic series? One little storyline in it has a similar theme (again, not too close), I thought it was a good one.

I am sorry about your friend's cat. That is sad. Losing an animal is always so hard.

I love paint your own pottery places! My friend actually works at one and I have a $25 gift card he gave me for Christmas that I need to use! I've got to decide what I am going to paint. Yay! lol

That sounds like an interesting book. I would read it.

RYC: I am sorry about the font!! I didn't notice it was small. I guess on my computer it looks normal. I will have to try to make it a bit bigger so people can actually read it!

I've got another update. So I will go do that instead of leaving everyone comments saying what I need to say.

So many animal deaths! I had to hep do a PTS at work (put to sleep) then my boyfriends dad dog fell on accident and had to go to the e-clinic because her head began to swell.. The cirlce of life is really sucking right now, and people these days are insane.
