Life got the best of me after Christmas last year, and it just continued. I truly wanted to keep an update of my life on a daily or weekly basis. I guess I have to sum up the past 10 months.
In February, Cunningham moved in with me. Yes. You have permission to smack me upside the head. Cal did. The company he worked for closed, and he lost his job. He had no money for rent and had to move out. At least I could keep an eye on him. He slept on the couch.. for the first couple weeks. Then he started sleeping in my room. Hey we were married for a few years.
And we got back together.
We were going to make it work this time. We were older and wiser. We were getting along. We were communicating. We were laughing.
For a few months.. then the Cunningham I remembered appeared again. The controlling, jealous, angry man who I had to divorce showed up. My best friend disappeared. I warned him to cool it. I told him if he continues this crap, he was going to lose me for good. Not just as a someone to be in a relationship with, but as a friend. Despite all the hell he has put me through, I know his heart. I've known this man since high school. He has anger issues. No, he has never once laid a hand on me. He's a good man.
In September, last month, I kicked him out. That sounds very harsh, but we had a really bad argument. To the point where even my ghost was affected. I've never seen the lights flicker so much. Stuff even began to fly off shelves. Cunningham was used to all the little things that went on in the house, but even he was freaked out. The ghost's antics worked, and we calmed down long enough for me to grab his suitcase and fill it with his clothes. I was too old for childish fights. The issues we had when we were married so many years ago were creeping back up, and I did not need to relive them again.
He hasn't contacted me at all in the last month. I worry for him.
Other events in the past ten months? My niece, Natti, is still so smart, gifted, and still very psychic. With permission from her fathers, I started teaching her tarot cards. I let her into my apartment to talk to my ghost, because I knew my ghost wasn't harmful. She told me his name is Greg, and died about 30 years ago in the apartment. Natti wouldn't tell me how, because Greg didn't want me to know.
Cal still wants to investigate my apartment. He keeps asking why I never set up a camera. I just don't want to. Greg and I are pretty cool together. I don't need anymore proof. When I first moved in, I did a few EVP sessions. I ended up with one friendly "hello." And that's all I needed.
Work has been steady. We get a couple cases a month. I had one really good photo of a full body apparition in a mirror. The client signed a waiver saying she doesn't wish it to be shared with anyone. Halloween is coming up. We get more phone calls and e-mails around this time. We have to weed through the pranks and the paranoid people to find the true ones. Unfortunately we're booked until next March. If we ever get calls of panic that truly sound scary, we try to get to them as soon as possible. But most of the time, it's "I've seen shadows and have heard footsteps. My remote keeps disappearing. Can you check it out?"
There are so many factors to consider when you believe your place is haunted.
-the age of the house: could count for or against you. On one hand, lots of residual energy still there. Maybe a few deaths. On another hand, old houses make noise and do weird things. Some have carbon monoxide gas leaks or even bad electrical problems.
-who is having the experience? Yes some spirits like to bug some people more than others. I've had families where one member always thinks the others are crazy. But make sure if it is just one person, they do not have vision, hearing, or other issues such as side effects of medications. And please.. if I get to your house, and happen to find a bag of shrooms on the table, yes that has happened, it does discredit anything you have told me.
-where is the haunting? just one room? the whole house?
-when did the hauntings begin? did you buy an antique recently? have you always had experiences since you've lived there? Did someone mess with a spirit board. Please do not mess with those things if you do not know what you are doing. Haven't you learned from the Exorcist?
There are more factors. We make clients fill out forms with questions such as these. I never automatically discredit anyone based on any answers, however it does help me when investigating.
