Merry Christmas!

12/25/2014

Christmas always puts me in a great mood!

I was out and about today doing some last minute shopping. I had everyone checked off my list except Cunningham. I had a gut feeling he was going to stop by today. He's recently single and lonely, and probably just needs to company. It's hard to explain to people that before we were married, years before we even started dating, we were friends. Despite all the history and drama, he's still my best friend to this day. I honestly know i can count on him for anything. Even though he's a jerk. A controlling douche bag in relationships. Sort of manipulating and belittling. But we've reached a point in our relationship/friendship where I'm comfortable telling him this. We all have friends who suck at relationships. It's hard to think that, but perhaps not having kids was the best thing for both of us. I could see myself ending up hating him. But that was years ago. We're alright now.

I couldn't ignore my gut, and logic told me that he would bring a gift. It's Christmas Eve. He'd be obligated too or it would be awkward. lol I know him. Now I had to get him something. I somehow found myself at the fancy strip club down town buying him a gift card. He could cash it in for cash or buy himself a nice steak dinner with a lap-dance included. If he didn't show up, I'm sure I could find someone to take it. My brother and brother and law would love it. Two gay men at a strip club is pretty hilarious. The three of us have had some crazy nights out.

My gut was right. He showed up at about five, somehow just knowing I would be home. He knew I wouldn't be with my mom. Parker and Aaron would be doing the family thing with Natti, and all of my friends would be with their own families. And of course he showed up with a gift. He bought me a gift certificate for a free massage and spa treatment.

He stayed for a few hours, and we just talked. It was nice to catch up with him. He told me his recent girlfriend had been cheating on him. Or rather, he was the second man and didn't know it. For five months, this woman was cheating on her husband with him. How crazy is that? That's the one thing Cunningham had never done. Cheat. Despite his flaws, he's very dedicated to his relationships. We found ourselves reminiscing about high school. Different mischief we had gotten into. Teachers had to keep our desks separate, because we would end up laughing about something.

He left around ten. I've been wrapping gifts since. Until my scissors suddenly disappeared. My only pair in the entire apartment. The rest somehow end up with me as I go to work. We're always cutting tape to mark where cameras should stand.

Have a wonderful Christmas, all!
