638 Billy Joel Concert and stress

06/28/2014

638 billy joel, stress 6 27 2014

Last night was the Billy Joel Concert at Fenway Park. I went with a family friend… It’s a friend of my mom’s grand daughter who’s 23? Anyways, she’s a cool lady who in my fantasy world, would be the closest thing to my perfect lady, except she’s taken lol but anyways. She loves Disney, is into sports, somewhat similar taste in music, she loves Chinese food and the same things as I do, and she is…Jewish. Anywho…

So Rachel and I met at one of my favorite restaurants, Boston Beerworks. (not that I drink beer, but they have 122 beers on tap) I had called when when I was around the corner and when I got out of my ride she told me that it was perfect timing as she got there at 5:15 (here it’s 6:15 at the time) and put her name in and she went shopping. She got a bathingsuit. I was like…umm ok. So we went in, and it was really loud. She said we didn’t have to stay if I didn’t want to. I said no no, I want to stay. We were basicly yelling to hear each other and there was a lot of “what did you say” and delay responses to process what each other said over the noise. I told her I was going to get a burger. She said that sounded good, I’ll get one too. She said it’s a change from having chicken. (one of her brother’s only eats chicken)
We talked about work, about drinking, about songs we think he’ll play and other musics we like, we talked about trips, she was going to Miami the following morning for her soon to be sis’inlaws bachelorette party. She told me that she’s going to Cali in a few weeks for work. She said that when she and her BF move into their new apartment and everything is set up, I should come over. I said I would love to.

It was nice to be out without my parents or my friends with their kids. I am very relaxed with her as I believe she is with me.

When we were almost done, I said to her when she sees our waitress next, to get the check so we’re not waiting. She said it was a good idea. So when I was done, I asked if the check came yet she said “yup, I’m just waiting for my credit card to come back” I was a little tiny bit hmm not happy about that, it was not necessary, she goes “you’re a cheap date” we laughed. (and that is how it was for most of the night, picking on each other in a fun-friendly way) With her credit card back in her hand, we were off to the concert.

We waited in the bag line since she had a bag. She goes “I have to go pee, not that you needed to know.” I just chuckled.

We got in, and Gavin mcgraw was already on. Rachel told me thathe was opening. I didn’t know any of his songs but he sounded good. I wouldn’t run out and buy a CD but I wouldn’t change the station if he came on.

I asked her how long till she thought we could smell pot. She said about 5 minutes. It was a bit long but eventually we could smell it and id you could smell in periodicly through the night.
We talked about pot and alcohol. I told her about my experiences. She was fascinated. I told her how at my best friend’s wedding I had 13 Martinis. She said she would have died. OH, alcohol came up because she was telling me that Monday morning, after her last day of school (which I congratulated her for, she laughed) she and some of her coworkers went bowling and drinking. She was drinking and only one other teacher wasn’t… (she’s a speech teacher, at a HS.) but she didn’t understand how people could drink like that, all day and all night. They had split up after midnight. So it was off-on 13 hours of drinking. So back to me, I said I had 7 by the time I had to give the best man speech. She laughed, asked how it came out. I said that I thought it came out well. She said she would love to see that, asked if someone has a video of it. I said yes but I don’t know who.

Her mother with a friend were also at the concert, sitting far away from us but as mother’s do, she came over and was talking to us, wanted a pic of us. (I guess it was a very nice pic. I guess Rachel is a very beautiful lady) Soon enough, the the lights went out and Billy came on.

The acoustic sucked but I was up rocking to the beat. … 5 or so songs into the concert the guy behind me told me to sit down, I was blocking his view. This ticked me off. I was at a concert. I was there to have a good time and dance…or whatever you call it. Besides, a lot of other people were standing too. He can stand. That pissed me off for bit… for the rest of the time. I didn’t sit but at some point I had to, my knees started bothering me but I only sat for about 3 songs then stood for the rest of the time. During one song, Rachel put her arm around my shoulder so I put my arm round her waste. We swayed together and she was tapping her fingers on my shoulder and I was tapping my fingers on her side. About half way through she put her arm down so I did too… the physical closeness felt nice while it lasted. Not sure the next time that will happen again.

I only knew about half the songs. But he catered to the Boston fans.
Then he had a lady come out and do “Boston state of mind”, New York state of mine but changed to boston words. I thought she was very bad, but knowning what I know now, I feel guilty for feeling that way. I would have NEVER guessed she was a 13 year old girl.

He also did “sweet caroline”, the croud was at it’s loudest during this song. Since 2003, during the 8th inning of every game in Boston, sweet caroline is played and sorta became our fenway anthum.

I figured after he did piano man, that would have been it but when the lights didn’t go out and everyone was standing and cheering and I started chanting “one more song one more song” and Rachel followed my lead, I said to her, he didn’t do uptown girl. She was surprised aand said you’re right, he didn’t…and the first song for the oncore? Uptown girl. She elboed me and said you’re right. After two more songs I asked if she wanted to beat the crowd. She aid “good idea” and leadthe way.

Her Brother Zchery was picking us up. He was already there. We had to walk a few to get to him but the very last song was “only the good die young” I told her as we heard it in the distance, good, I didn’t want to hear this song, not sure if I said this part out loud or not but said, I’d probably cry. … I have attached that song with my coworker who was killed. She was oly 25 years old.

I didn’t realize we had to wait for her mom as well.

On this night, it was also the annual NBA draft, where the college and international players get picked to play for NBA teams. I had Rachel text Zachery, to tell him that I’m recording the draft, not to say anything about it. He was good, he didn’t but did tell me about an emotional part of the draft. Which, when I got home, aftermidnight, I started the draft up…didn’t realize with fast wardwarding through the commercials it would still take 4 hrs.

Rachel and I, mostly rachel was telling him about the concert and she told him how while she was waiting for me to get there, she went shopping and bought a new bathingsuit for Florida. She pulled it out and said “see Jonathan?” and I put my hand out slightly, unsure if she was really wanting me to touch her bathingsuit. She held it out and my fingers touched along a let hole, and she said, “see? it feels like a bathingsuit” before pulling it away. I like that playfulness about her too. Ug.

Eventually her mom got to the car and I don’t think I ever spent more than a few mins with her. that woman defanately has ADD. She went from talking about how one of my neighbors is a patient of hers (she’s a dental higenis) to saying something about the concert then going back to my neighbors. There wasn’t even a “oh by the way” or “oh and another thing” she just went from one topic to the other and right back to the other. I said …while trying to suppress a laugh “Lisa Lisa Lisa” (her name) (trying to get her to stop talking lol) and said, you realize you just went from … and she said she did. Lol. We all talked …mostly Lisa talked about the concert.

We got home. Zach got out of the car to walk me up to the door. I thankd Rachel for going with me. She thanked me for asking her. Zach asked me when the sox are in town. I told him Monday Tuesday and Wednesday they’re playing the cubs… he said he’ll try to get tickets. Josh is in town. He’ll like to go too.

Earlier on this day, my mom sent me a link to a listen to two Bon Jovi songs off his 30th anniversary CD. Ironicly, one of the song was born to be my baby, my fav Bon Jovi song of all time so I listened. I thought when a cd is remastered it meant the quality was better. I never knew they literally re-do the sound of the song. It was slowly and I liked it so I asked my mom if she could order it on amazon for me, she has an amazon account so gets points. She sent me a confirmation email of the presale. So on-about aug 1, I’ll have more Bon Jovi songs.
Today, Friday, (well, Saturday as I’m writing this but I’m referring to Friday…)

I had a bad and stressful day. Mostly it was my best friend and my own thoughts but it was also the frustration of the job and lady thing. I don’t want to go into it, I already have a splitting head ache about it, but just wnted to mention it.
